“Congratulations! Let’s see the ring!”
It was neither an uncommon demand nor a surprising one; in a culture where engagement announcements are often accompanied by the sight of a rather large shiny rock on the woman’s finger, it was only natural that people would want to check out the bling.
The hardest part about this whole situation right now is not being expected to plan a wedding, or even the thought of having to spend the rest of my life with one person.

To us, announcing our engagement never meant having all details. It just meant that we were, well, engaged. Other information to come along in due time, move along now.
